2024-2025 IAEM-USA Committee and Caucus Leadership Selection

2024-2025 IAEM-USA Committee and Caucus Leadership Selection

The period for expressing interest in committee or caucus leadership opened on June 3 and will run through July 5. There are some updates to share as we start the process from last year’s pilot program.

Committees:

For 2024-2025, committee leadership will be appointed by the President and then approved by the Board of Directors per our current Administrative Policies and Procedures (APPs). This is being done because committees are in place to carry out the work of the association and execute the board's priorities. This puts the committee leadership in a position similar to a “President’s Cabinet” where the President typically appoints their cabinet members. To express interest in being in a committee leadership position:

  • Send an email to  Travis@iaem.com with the following information:
    • The name of the Committee you are interested in leading
    • A statement indicating you are currently a member of that committee, for how long, and if you have served in any leadership roles on that committee previously.
    • A statement indicating why you want to lead that committee.
    • An explanation of how your knowledge, skills, and experience align with the purpose and subject area of the committee
    • A statement of how you plan to address the specific Objectives and Key Results for your committee.
  • Prospective appointments most be active member of the committee they are seeking to lead, or a subject matter expert in that area, and an active member of IAEM.
  • The final steps of the process include:
    • A potential conversation between the President and the candidate
    • Submission of an IAEM Group Leadership Commitment Form
      • You can review the form HERE, but there is no need to sign or submit at this time.
    • Placement on a slate of proposed leaders to be given to the Board of Directors for approval at the first meeting after the Annual Conference (December)

Caucuses:

Caucus leadership will follow the basic processes established in the recent pilot but with some minor adjustments in how the process starts. Any caucus member who is interested in continuing as, or becoming, a leader in their group should review the leadership selection criteria posted on the page of that caucus https://www.iaem.org/Groups/USA-Caucuses

  • At a minimum, they should be:
    • An active member of the caucus
    • A member in good standing of IAEM

To start the process, you must complete the Request to be placed on Ballot for IAEM Caucus Leadership form.

On the form, you will be asked to attest to your ability and willingness to meet the requirements of the IAEM-USA Group Leadership Commitment Form. The form can be found at the link below. A physical signature or copy of the form IS NOT required at this time. Just your electronic confirmation via the MS Form.

The final steps of the process include:

  • Review by IAEM staff for completeness and that the member is in good standing
  • Review by the President and development of a Ballot for the Caucus
  • Caucus voting
  • Placement on a slate of proposed leaders to be given to the Board of Directors for approval at the first meeting after the Annual Conference (December)
