    IAEM-USA Region 3: Stress First Aid Implications for Emergency Management

    Registration

    Stress First Aid (SFA) is an evidenced-informed approach to facilitate the recognition of stress injuries related to trauma, loss, fatigue, and moral distress, assessment of individuals and teams that may have a stress injury, and facilitating healing through the connection of team and community resources. SFA is a peer-support strategy intended for emergency response teams that work and deploy to a broad range of disaster and community traumatic events.

2023

  • IAEM-USA Region 3 will be accepting applications from students for stipends to attend the 2023 IAEM Annual Conference in November 2023 (5 Sept. 2023) IAEM-USA Region 3 will be awarding multiple grants to student members to attend the 71st Annual Conference & EMEX being held November 3-9, 2023 in Long Beach, California. Student winners will have their registration fee paid by the region. Students are responsible for other travel expenses, such as hotel and transportation. Please complete the 2023 online application by September 12th to be considered for this opportunity.

2022

  • IAEM-USA Region 3 is accepting applications from students for grant stipends to attend the 2022 IAEM Annual Conference (19 Sept. 2022) IAEM-USA Region 3 is awarding grant stipends for student members to attend the 2022 IAEM Annual Conference. The 70th Annual Conference & EMEX is being held Nov. 11-17, 2022, in Savannah, Georgia. Student winners will have their registration fee paid by the region. Students are responsible for their other travel expenses such as hotel and transportation, however, depending on available funds and submissions, additional funding may be provided to offset some travel expenses as well. Complete this application to be considered for this stipend.

2021

  • IAEM-USA Region 3 is accepting applications from students for grants to attend the 2021 IAEM Annual Conference (22 Sept. 2021) IAEM-USA Region 3 is awarding up to two grants for student members to attend the 2021 IAEM Annual Conference. The 69th Annual Conference & EMEX is being held Oct. 15-22, 2021, in Grand Rapids. Student winners will have their registration fee paid by the region. Students are responsible for their other travel expenses such as hotel and transportation. Complete this application to be considered for this grant.
  • IAEM-USA Region 3 Shines a Spotlight on 40 Members Under 40 (28 May 2021)  IAEM-USA Region 3 is proud to announce the 40 members under 40 who were nominated by their peers and selected by the regional officers for this new honor. They were selected for their career achievements and emergency management community involvement. Congratulations to these accomplished individuals. See the award list.
  • IAEM-USA Region 3 launches search for 40 under 40; Nominations for extraordinary Region 3 members under 40 accepted until Apr. 30 (07 Apr 2021) IAEM-USA Region 3 invites members to participate in a new award for Region 3 members under 40 years old, the IAEM-USA Region 3 40 Under 40 Award. Any IAEM member from Region 3 who is under 40 years old may be entered and recognized for their career achievements and emergency management community involvement. Self-nominations or nominations from colleagues or friends will be accepted. The Top 40 will be chosen by Region 3 leadership. Nominations should be submitted via this survey by Apr. 30, 2021. The IAEM-USA Region 3 values its members and wants to recognize the hard work that members in this region are doing.

2020

  • Online registration is open until Dec. 3 for the IAEM-USA Region 3 Virtual Symposium, to be held Dec. 7-11 (24 Nov 2020) The IAEM-USA Region 3 Symposium, “Emergency Management in the New Normal,” presented by Region 3 and George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government and scheduled for Dec. 7-11, will provide a virtual forum to highlight FEMA updates, college/university focused panel, networking trivia night, BRIC/grant session, diversity and inclusivity, and Region 3 membership meeting. Online registration is open, and details are available in the programThe symposium is open at no charge to IAEM members and at a nominal charge of $5 to non-members, but you must register online by Dec. 3, 2020. On Dec. 4, registrants will receive an updated email confirmation to include access details to the virtual platform.
     
  • Save the Date: IAEM-USA Region 3 Virtual Symposium & Membership Meeting (05 Nov 2020) IAEM-USA Region 3 and George Mason University's Schar School of Policy and Government will present the Region 3 Virtual Symposium on "Emergency Management in the New Normal," scheduled for Dec. 7-11, 2020.
