2025 IAEM Scholarship Application

IAEM scholarships are awarded through a competitive process to students worldwide, who are pursuing an associate or diploma, baccalaureate, or graduate degree in emergency management, or a closely related field.

The 2025 scholarship application period for full-time undergraduate and graduate students and part-time graduate students begins March 31, 2025. All application materials must be submitted by 11:59:59 p.m. EDT, May 30, 2025.

Application instructions should be downloaded and followed closely. A checklist is available below to help you gather materials.

 

2025 Special Awards

Dr. E.L. Quarantelli Scholarship for Doctoral Research Students - $10,000

In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the IAEM Scholarship Commission, is offering of a special $10,000 scholarship award for doctoral research students in honor of Dr. E.L. Quarantelli, a pioneering scholar in the field of disaster research and emergency management. This award recognizes Quarantelli’s profound contributions to the field (many housed at the Univerisity of Delaware Disaster Research Center) and reinforces IAEM’s commitment to fostering the next generation of emergency management professionals. To apply for this award, students must fully complete the Graduate Student application and provide all required materials. In addition, applicants must submit an additional essay project. Be sure to review the Application Instructions, Graduate Student Checklist, and the Quarantelli Scholarship Checklist. Any student who applies for an does not receive this award, will be considered for the 2025 IAEM Graduate Student Scholarship.

Robert C. Bohlmann, CEM, Scholarship for Service in Emergency Management

In 2017, a special undergraduate scholarship was named for the Scholarship Program co-founder, Robert C. Bohlmann, CEM. In 2025, this scholarship again will be awarded to the undergraduate student who has the highest score under the scholarship rating system.

To assist applicants, the Scholarship Commission has created checklists for each application type. This tool helps student applicants track materials that are needed to complete a successful application. Logging In

You will be prompted to log in prior to starting an application. IAEM members should use their current user name and password. If you are NOT an IAEM member and have not registered with us before to attend a conference or for any other event or purchase, choose to register and you will receive a login and password. (Note: you do not have to be a member of IAEM to apply for a scholarship. Registering provides you limited access to IAEM programs, such as certification, scholarship, or meeting registrations.)

Uploading Application Documents

After you complete the application form, you will need to provide required documentation as it becomes available. NOTE: Do not start a new application to upload documents, as they become availabe. To upload required documentation (review the checklist for your application above), login and visit the Dashboard from the top menu. Access your scholarship application and upload per the application instructions.

Additional Benefits for Scholarship Recipients

In addition to being awarded a scholarship, IAEM Scholarship recipients receive:

  • A full registration for the IAEM Annual Conference, Nov. 14-20, in Louisville, Kentucky (not including transportation and lodging).
  • One essay for each recipient will be selected and published in the IAEM Bulletin.
